5 Ways to Welcome Spring

As the weather begins to warm and the trees bloom, we start to feel the affects of Spring, and what it brings with her.  Longer days, fresh rain, beautiful flowers, and more opportunities to spend outside.  A renewed sense of spirit and hope gives motivation to wellness and self-care; here are 5 ways to welcome this gorgeous season ā¤ļø

1: Connect With Yourself

Wake early and spend some time in silence, just focusing on your breath and heartbeat.  You might even close your eyes as you do this and just begin to let your thoughts go and give yourself some time to just be.  As humans we don’t just sit and become aware of our own existence in life, sometimes just stopping and breathing and  giving yourself a few minutes to connect with yourself, with your spirit. 2: Call of the Wild 

Spend some time in nature.  Go outside and feel the air against your body, the warmth of the sun on your skin, if you walk barefoot, feel the ground beneath your feet.  Take some time to connect back with our original source, the earth. Allow your spirit the space and freedom to reconnect with itself and experience the organic in life.  

3: Soulful Writing

Start a journal or if you already have one continue writing.  Maybe add some more creative elements to it; find quiet spaces to sit in and reflect, whether that be a safe place in your home, outside in nature, or one of your favorite spots out in public.  Try to really connect with your emotions and what is going on in your life at that time and how you feel.  Write it all down, maybe be creative and add some sketches, or mementos.  Anything that helps you feel better and understand your self more.

4: Yin and Yang

Start a yoga or meditation practice, or continue what you’re doing maybe challenge yourself a little more. Check out these yoga methods for self-care.  There are amazing resources online, online yoga classes, local yoga classes, books, DVD’s.  There’s so many places to go to for help if you’re a beginner.

5: Flower Power

Add little elements of spring to your home and into any type of yoga or meditation space that you have.  Fresh flowers bring life and amazing scents to your home; grow your own fresh herbs in your window sill, maybe a small herb garden outside.  Herbs can help kick up the flavor of any dish and are a great addition to your health and wellness plan.

  1. I love the idea of welcoming Spring and using it as a time of new beginnings and renewal. I’ve done yoga before but now might be a good time to pick it back up, never hurts!

  2. Great suggestions. I particularly want to start a journal soon to help me connect with myself and focus my thoughts – unfortunately we aren’t going into spring yet, but this post makes me want it to be spring lol!

  3. I’m so ready for Spring, and I love your ideas! I totally agree with you about the importance of connecting with nature. I really need to do a lot more of that, since it’s so grounding as well as renewing to the soul.
